Where do I start?
We are a popular Church for weddings and get booked-up very quickly.
You and your partner will need to come along to the Parish Office on either a
Tuesday 3.30pm-4.30pm or a Wednesday 6.30pm-8.00pm.
You don’t need an appointment, just turn-up and a member of the Clergy will see you.
They will ask you questions to see if you are able to be married at this Church. You will be given a Wedding Pack to take away and forms to return if you wish to proceed.
What if I'm Divorced?
If one or both of you have been divorced you may still be able to be married at this Church.
The Clergy will discuss this with you.
The cost of your wedding
The cost of a standard wedding at this Church will be confirmed by The Clergy.
The Organ and Organist, Choir, Bells, Flowers, permission to video the Service and permission to photograph inside the Church are all additional charges.
How to Book a Wedding
After your meeting with the Clergy you will need return to the Clergy in Parish Office on a Tuesday or Wednesday during office hours the following:
- The Arrangements Slip, indicating your choices.
- You and your partner’s Birth Certificates.
- The Application Form with correct details.
- A cheque for £100 made payable to “Easthampstead Parish Church”.
NOTE: The outstanding balance must be paid two months before the date your Wedding.
Meetings to help you prepare
Christian marriage isn’t just about going to church and saying the right words. It’s a lifelong commitment and needs to be taken very seriously, which is why a lot of prayer and thought will go into making sure you’re prepared for it.
To help you prepare we will be inviting you to attend a meeting. At the meeting we will discuss the meaning of the Service, check details and answer any questions you may have. The meeting is held at 8.15pm in the Annex attached to the Church.
There is also a follow-up session when a married couple will offer to discuss marriage with you.
Calling your Banns
By Law your Banns (the public announcement that you intend to marry each other) have to be called on three Sundays to legally establish you are free to marry.
Your Banns will be called on three consecutive Sundays at the 9.30am Service.
We will advise you of the dates when you book.
We don’t insist you come to Church to hear your Banns called but most couples like to be in Church on those dates.
Please note !
If one of you lives outside the Parish of Easthampstead it is your responsibility to have your Banns called in the other parish and to obtain a Banns Certificate.
Help and Advice
Your Rehearsal
You will need the Bride, Bridegroom, Best Man, at least one Adult Bridesmaid, the person giving the Bride away and at least one of your Ushers. It is also helpful, if a member of the
family are doing the photographs or video, for them to be at the rehearsal as well.
Your Wedding Rehearsal is usually in the week before your Wedding and is arranged at one of the preparation meetings.
Hymns and Music
Some couples choose not to have music at their Wedding, for other couples the music is part of the experience. For those who choose to have music at their Wedding, our Director of Music will invite you to a Music Evening and discuss the options
Flowers
We can provide these. Our Florist will be available to discuss options with you at the Preparation
